I totally don't get this. Sometimes my desktop icons disappear and I have to restart my computer for them to come back. When I do go to the desktop it says program manager, whatever that means.
Another issue is my start menu. Not all of it shows up unless I arrow up and down a few times then the rest shows.
A few times, my computer thinks the alt key is stuck but it's not. Oh and there's one more. The menu bars sometimes don't like to work.
Is that enought for one post? lol
Uhm wow. Here're a couple things you can try. If your desktop won't come up, bring up the task manager with ctrl+shift+esc go to the processes tab, find explorer.exe and end it (alt+e.) then go to the aplications tab, and tab til you get to the new task button. Press space and it'll bring up a edit field. Type explorer.exe and press enter. That may fix it. (make sure to close task manager when you finish.)
The startmenu thing is just a windows thing. Not sure about the rest unless you have sticky keys on or something.
Cool thanks.
Now how do I prevent the "blue screen of death."
On my old computer, it ment that it was going to completly stop working and it, eventually did. *scared*
If anybody have weird computer problems they can post them here.
Uhm. that would depend on what was causing the BSOD. We'd need more info on what was happenening or what you were doing before it happened, and it'd be nice to have any error codes it gave.
Hi,
Follow these tips. Shall we?
1. Move to Start Button and press the Applications key (third key to the right of the spacebar), in the context menu choose "Properties".
2. You land in a group of 2 radio buttons. Down arrow to "Classic start menu".
3. Press tab to move to the Customize... and hit space bar.
4. Now press tab until you hear Advanced Start menu options:
5. Do exactly as shown in the list.
Display Administrative Tools-OFF
Display Favorites-OFF
Display Run-ON
Enable dragging and dropping-ON
Expand Control Panel-OFF
Expand My Documents-OFF
Expand My Pictures-OFF
Expand Network Connections-OFF
Expand Printers-OFF
Scroll Programs-OFF (important)
Show Small Icons in Start menu-OFF
Use Personalized Menus-OFF (important)
Hit enter? ... Congratulations!
HTH!
Wow. Not sure you need to turn all those off, but that's cool. I'd honestly never even looked at those options before. Thanks for the tip.
Yes yes yes SingerOfSongs that's right. Just concentrate on following actions:
Scroll Programs-OFF
Use Personalized Menus-OFF
Meow-off. jk jk
hmph! I happen to like the meow feature turned on. :P
Yeah sure why not. lol
I just do something normal like going to the desktop and the blue screen pops up and jaws doesn't read it.
I hope it doesn't happen again.
And why is my internet connection slow when I play music and they are my own files.
Blue screen?hehegh, ya know Jeannie it's a hard question Sorry i couldn't find any solution for this problem until now especially in windows 95 and windows 98.
When it comes to your second question your computer might be sluggish because it has a kind of virus.
The occasional blue screen is a definite warning of some kind.
However, the keyboard problems are indicative that something is going wrong in your operaating system.
I take it you are using jaws, (which version).
Do you have any other assistive technology on your computer? like zoomtext, hal etc?
What operating system are you running?
What virus program do you have, is it updated and does it run flawlessly often?
Has anything suggested thus far helpped?
Sorry, but right now I don't have any answers, maybe more information will help.
Bob
I'm using jaws 8 with no other assistive software and My computer came with AVG and it likes to send me random updates everyday. Oh yeah, and it's windows xp, no idea what kind. I got my computer from blind services.
Bob is here? mmm! long time no see. How's ya?
